12MN-5AM Curfew imposed by the military (Nov. 29, 2007)

Following a stand-off between the police and the Magdalo group yesterday afternoon at the Peninsula Hotel in Makati, a curfew was announced to take effect from 12MN-5Am of November 30, 2007 (which happens to be National Heroes Day and the 144th birthday anniversary of Andres Bonifacio).

Let us continue to pray for our nation, that God would give guidance to our leaders as they make decisions for the good of everyone.

NEWS!

LAST NIGHT
We had 20 people in our Gathering last night. We missed a number of people who had their hands full- work, school, etc. We missed a whole bunch of our Americans last night because of car trouble. Nevertheless, the Lord was present in our study last night and used Pastor Chris Legaspi to share God's Word with us- LIVING WITH ASSURANCE!

We had two guests last night:
1. Ari Gonzales
2. Mrs. Len Sabio (Raya and Rajsh's mom)

NEXT WEEK- SERIES BREAK
We will introduce a new activity for our group. Once in a while, we will be having our THE BIBLE AT THE MOVIES night. When we will watch a movie- either old or new, and discern some of the values presented, theological implications and lessons we can learn from the movie in the light of the Bible.

On Thursday, we will be watching 13 GOING ON 30 starring Jennifer Garner and Mark Ruffalo. The movie appears to be a chick-flick, but I'm pretty sure all of us will learn many things from it in the light of the Bible.

The movie runs approximately 1 hour and 38 minutes, and we will break into groups for discussion for about 45 minutes more. Discussion Questions will be distributed to BG Leaders early next week.

COME EARLY
Movie starts at 7:15 and ends at 8:45
Discussion begins at 8:45 and ends at 9:30.
Microwave Popcorn and Soda will be served!

NEWS: THIS LITTLE LIGHT...

Last night, we had 27 people in Bible Study, and 40 during P. Ro's birthday and farewell dinner.

Sam Zipp (USA), with the assistance of Betsy Barfield and Krissy Gressick (USA) creatively taught last night's study on LIVING IN GOD'S LIGHT and effectively shared with us so many truths gleaned from 1John 1:5 to 10. Sam challenged the group to mirror God's light wherever we go and whatever we do. Thanks Sam, Betsy and Krissy!

We had several first time guests:
3 People from Union Church of Manila
6 People from the Youth Ministry Leadership
1 Korean (Benny) friend of Ryan Hong.

Thanks to Natalie Villanueva, P. Ro's fiancee for bringing the sumptuous dinner last night: Pasta, Lemon Chicken, Barbecue, Soda and Cream Puffs. P. Ro left this morning for Maryland and will be back in a few months as Youth Director of the Union Church of Manila.

NEXT WEEK, we will hear a message from our Student Pastor, Chris Legaspi on LIVING IN ASSURANCE (1John1:1-17).

NEWS: September 6 GATHERING

Last night at Mosaic, we had 23 people and 1 prayed to receive Christ. We missed a number of folks last night who were all busy with work, emergency appointments and the like, but the 23 people who came to last night's gathering enjoyed the fellowship, worship and study.

I (PJon) brought Tea, Coffee, and cupcakes, the chunky chocolate chip cookies were courtesy of Rajsh and Mark had two huge pizzas delivered from Domino's. In our next Gatherings, those who wish to bring refreshments may do so, just inform me ahead of time.

Thanks to our first time guest- Jessica, a friend of Liann's- for gracing our gathering.

See you Sunday folks!
